The Trust Conference is an annual two-day forum held in London, UK that convenes delegates from the worlds of activism, civil society, law, government, and business to advance media freedom, foster more inclusive economies, and promote human rights.

The Conference is organised by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, a charity registered in England and Wales (no. 1082139) and company limited by guarantee in England and Wales (no. 04047905). Thomson Reuters Foundation together with its wholly owned subsidiary, Reuters Foundation Consultants Ltd, a limited company in England and Wales (no. 03740741), collectively referred to in these Terms and Conditions as the “Conference Convener”.

All Conference registrations are subject to the approval of the Conference Convener. The Conference Convener reserves the right to refuse admission to, or to eject from the Conference, any delegate, including, without limitation, any delegate who fails to comply with these terms and conditions or who in the opinion of the Conference Convener represents a security risk or nuisance to the running of the Conference.

If you are registering on behalf of another person, you confirm you are authorised by that person to make the registration, and that the person has confirmed their agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions. You acknowledge and agree that both you and the person for whom you are making the registration will be bound by these terms and conditions.

Use of Data and Privacy

Our privacy practices and information about how we will use of your data is set out in the Trust Conference Privacy Statement.

Cancellation

The Conference Convener may in its absolute discretion, at any time, with or without giving notice, cancel or postpone the Conference, change the Conference platform and/or amend Conference content or any other aspect of the Conference.

Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights included in and displayed during the Conference and within the Conference materials, including copyright and trademarks, are and will remain the property of the Conference Convener and/or third-party providers, as applicable, and you will not acquire any rights in them.

Audio-Visual Rules

By participating in the Conference, you understand that portions of the Conference’s live events may be recorded in video and audio and/or captured in still and/or digital photographs by Us. We may publish such recordings which may include your name, likeness, voice, biographical details, testimonial, on our website, and social media channels without further compensation, or reference to you. The basis of such processing is in pursuit of our legitimate interest to make available Conference proceedings to a wider audience. We own all rights of any audio, video, and/or photograph captured during the Conference.

We may also store, upload, analyse, index, organise and search Conference photographs, video and audio recordings using internal tools, including AI-enabled tools such as Frame Finder, for internal business purposes such as knowledge management, archive navigation, operational efficiency and content retrieval. Where these tools process personal data, we will do so in accordance with applicable data protection laws and apply appropriate technical and organisational measures. We do not use such tools to actively search for, identify, infer, tag or classify special category personal data unless this is necessary for a specific lawful purpose, supported by an appropriate legal basis and reviewed in advance in accordance with our internal procedures.

Limitation of Liability

The Conference Convener will not have any liability whatsoever to you with respect to the Conference, including the delivery, content, cancellation, postponement, or amendment of the Conference, any negligence, breach of these terms and conditions, or otherwise arising out of the subject matter of these terms and conditions. However, nothing will limit or exclude the liability of the Conference Convener for death or personal injury arising from the Conference Convener’s negligence, fraud, or any other liability that, by law, cannot be limited or excluded.

The Conference Convener provides no conditions, warranties, representations, or other terms, including any relating to satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular or any purpose, or the ability to achieve any particular result, other than those specifically set out in these terms and conditions and the Conference Privacy Statement.

Assignment and Other Dealings

You must not sell or otherwise transfer your registration to others or exploit the registration commercially or non-commercially in any way. You must not assign, transfer, subcontract or deal in any other manner with any of your rights and obligations under these terms and conditions without prior written consent of the Conference Convener.

Rights of Third Parties

No person other than you and the Conference Convener has the right, whether under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 or otherwise, to enforce these terms and conditions between us without prior written agreement of the Conference Convener.

Waiver

No failure or delay by the Conference Convener to exercise any right or remedy provided under these terms and conditions or by law will constitute a waiver of that or any other right or remedy, nor will it prevent restrict the further exercise of that or any other right or remedy. No single or partial exercise of such right or remedy will prevent restrict the further exercise of that or any other right or remedy.

Entire Agreement

These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between us and supersede all previous agreements, promises, assurances, warranties, representations, and understandings between us, whether written or oral, relating to its subject matter. No variation of these terms and conditions will be effective unless it is in writing and signed by the Conference Convener.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms and conditions will be governed and construed in accordance with English law. Both you and the Conference Convener agree that the courts of England and Wales sitting in London will have exclusive jurisdiction to deal with any dispute which has arisen or may arise out of or in connection with them.
